What I do these days...

"You are the myth of all your experiences."
--Joseph Campbell
  • Milda De Voe is a writer/actor living in New York City. She earns a living as a book doctor: meaning she takes finished manuscripts and explains to their authors in precise detail why they aren't selling, and suggests how they might be made more marketable. Line editing free of charge. Most of her clients are published authors. Agent referrals preferred.
  • Under the name M. M. De Voe, her short stories have been widely published and won many awards. She received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Columbia University in May of 2001.  (www.mmdevoe.com)
  • M. M. De Voe is an Associate Editor at Our Stories, a quality literary online journal; her personal online workshops are highly coveted. (www.ourstories.us)
  • She is also the executive director of Pen Parentis, which provides resources to authors who are also parents. (www.penparentis.org)
  • Look for her story "Overheard" in the anthology: Stirring up a Storm (Thunder's Mouth Press, October 2005) alongside stories by Joyce Carol Oates and Margaret Atwood.
  • In addition to writing, Milda is a trained actress and a member of Equity and AFTRA. She still occasionally does voiceover work, though has temporarily left the stage to raise kids.
  • Milda was born to Lithuanian parents in Texas. Her three vastly talented brothers are scattered across the globe. She, her husband, and their young son and daughter live in a Manhattan loft one block from "Ground Zero." See links on photo page for the full story.
